A businessman was found dead at his home in Shastripuram on Saturday night, and his family alleged that harassment by two private money lenders drove him to suicide.
Mailardevpally police said that the victim, Shaik Imran, 38, was residing with his family at Diamond Hills and ran an old furniture business.
“The family named Sohail and Jahangir as the two persons who had been pressuring Imran for additional payments after he reportedly failed to clear his dues. They said that the mounting demands and persistent harassment had left him distressed,” police said.
Imran returned home from work on Saturday night and was later found hanging in one of the rooms. Police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
Mailardevpally police have registered a case and begun an investigation, including inquiries into the lenders named by the family.
