Demanding the withdrawal of the four labour code laws introduced by the Central government, members of Left parties and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) staged a demonstration in Thoothuudi on Monday.
The protest was led by M. Murugan, district secretary, CPI. K.P. Arumugam, district secretary, CPM(I), M. Ganesan, district secretary, VCK, were among the individuals present at the protest.
Villavan Kothai, deputy general secretary, VCK, addressed the gathering and emphasised the demands of protesters.
During the protest, the participants raised slogans urging the Central government to withdraw four new labour code laws, which they claimed would strip workers of their rights.
A large number of members from the communist parties and VCK took part in the demonstration.
