Cane used by teacher pokes into Class X student’s eye in Virudhunagar

A Class X student, J. Vishal, suffered a serious eye injury when the cane used by his Social Science Teacher, Kumar, accidentally poked into his left eye on November 17.

According to the victim’s father, T. Jeyavel of Kalligudi, the teacher used the cane to beat a student in the classroom. However, the cane accidentally poked into the left eye of Vishal, who was sitting next to the boy.

Vishal was rushed to a private hospital where he was given first aid for the bleeding injury. Later, he was admitted to a private hospital in Madurai for a surgery.

Based on the complaint preferred by Mr. Jeyavel, who is a driver with the TNSTC, Virudhunagar West Police have registered a case against the teacher for endangering life/personal safety of the boy and also under the provision of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJ Act), 2015.
