The 12th annual Cartoon Habba of well known cartoonist Satish Acharya this year is titled ‘Khaki Cartoon Habba’, wherein focus is on showing the human face of policemen. The event, in association with the Udupi district police, will be held at Rotary Kalamandira in Kundapura of Udupi district from November 15 to November 19.

Talking to The Hindu, Mr. Acharya said he has been holding cartoon festival in Kundapura since last 11 years to make youth aware of Cartoon legacy of Kundapur and attract youth to cartoon making.

For the 12th year of the festival, Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar proposed holding of the event for policemen. “Like all professions, policemen too have challenges maintaining work-life balance. It will be good to show the human side of policemen (in this event),” he said.

Mr. Shankar said art inclined policemen from each station will be attending workshop on November 16, of Mr. Acharya on doing cartoons. The workshop will be between 10.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. “This workshop will have positive impact on personnel’s professional and personal life. Selected cartoons will be exhibited from November 17 to 19,” Mr. Shankar said. He hoped of having three cartoonists in every police station in the district.

Along with cartoon exhibition, there will be live caricature show on the three days.

The programme will be inaugurated by Director General of Prisons B. Dayanand on November 15. There will be felicitation of 10 best performing officers and police personnel. There will be two-hour interactive programme with parents named “Nimma Makkalannu Rakshisikolli”.
