The police on Saturday (November 22, 2025) registered a case against Perundurai MLA (AIADMK) S. Jayakumar for staging a road roko that disrupted traffic and caused inconvenience to the public on Friday night (November 21, 2025).

The MLA led the protest condemning officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department for allegedly encroaching upon 30 acres of land belonging to the Vijayamangalam Vijayapuri Amman Temple. The agitation took place near the Vijayamangalam toll-gate. The protest was withdrawn after talks with officials, during which the boundary stones installed by the HR and CE officials were removed. The road roko disrupted traffic on the Salem–Coimbatore National Highway near the toll-gate.

Police said a case has been registered under Sections 189(2) (unlawful assembly) and 126(2) (wrongful restraint) of the BNS. Cases have also been registered against a few other party functionaries, police added.
