The Communist Party of India has flayed the CB-CID for not properly investigating temple land encroachment cases involving high profile individuals in Puducherry and Karaikal regions of the Union Territory.
A resolution adopted at the party’s State council meeting held here on Saturday said the CB-CID has failed to complete investigation process into encroachment of Kamatchi Amman Temple land even months after the agency registered a case . The chargesheet has not yet been filed. Though the agency took up the case of encroachment of temple land in Karaikal, it failed to make any headway, he said.
“The CB-CID failed to bring the temple land encroachment cases to its logical conclusion. The police should not succumb to the pressure exerted by the ruling party,” he said.
The council also adopted a resolution demanding a status report from the Central Bureau of Investigation into the arrest of a PWD Chief Engineer in Puducherry. In another resolution, the party criticised the Puducherry government for not implementing its promise to revive textile units in the Union Territory.
