CB-CID police file chargesheet in triple-murder case in Avinashipalayam limits

: The CB-CID police on Monday submitted the chargesheet in the case of murder of an aged couple and their son at their house in Semalai Goundenpalayam village during November 2024 in Avinashipalayam police station limits, in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

CB-CID Deputy Superintendent of Police C. Chandrasekar handed over the chargesheet running to 3,440 pages to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohanavalli.

According to the First Information Report registered by the Avinashipalayam police, the bodies of Deivasigamani (78), a farmer, his wife Alamelu (75) and son Senthilkumar (46), an IT professional in a private company at Saravanampatti in Coimbatore district, bore injuries inflicted with blunt weapons.

The assailants had taken away eight sovereign gold jewellery worn by Alamelu, and a mobile phone.

The case was registered under BNS (Bharatiya Nyana Sanhita) Sections 332 (house-trespass to commit offence), 103 (punishment for murder and mob lynching), and 309 (4) which attracts rigorous imprisonment of upto 10 years along with a fine.

However, the investigating team could not make a headway in the case, in the absence of CCTV footage.

Subsequently, the State Government transferred the case to the CB-CID police.

The investigating team narrowed down on Aachiyappan (48), Matheswaran (53), and Ramesh (52), from Arachalur who were arrested in a murder case in Erode district, and confirmed their involvement in the triple murder also. Aachiyappan’s wife Vennila (43) and another accomplice Gnanasekaran (40) were arrested later on.

The CB-CID police had questioned about 200 witnesses. The hearing of the case is expected in the coming days.
