The Nolambur police have arrested a 20-year-old law college student who reportedly attempted to kidnap a 19-year-old engineering student in a car near Vikravandi toll plaza on GST Road on Friday (December 5, 2025). The woman has been rescued by the police.

A senior official of the city police said the accused Shyam Sundar is a resident of Mogappair. The 19-year-old woman, studying in a private engineering college, lived near his house. Shyam Sundar had allegedly been harassing her to marry him, but she refused and informed her parents.

Her parents had filed a police complaint, after which the police had let him off with a warning. However, angered by the incident, Shyam Sundar on Friday attempted to kidnap the woman in his car.

The parents alerted the Nolambur police, who immediately traced the vehicle on GST Road. As it reached the Vikravandi toll plaza, officers intercepted the car, arrested the man, and rescued the woman.
