Chennai Press Club ties up with private firm to distribute raincoats to journalists

The Chennai Press Club, in association with a private firm, distributed raincoats to journalists here on Saturday.

Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A. Arun and Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran took part in the programme organised at the Chennai Press Club and distributed the raincoats in the presence of senior journalists, N. Ram, Director, THG Publishing Private Limited, and R.R. Gopal, Editor of Nakkeeran.

Commending the office- bearers of the Chennai Press Club, Mr. Arun said the team had managed so far to run the show despite many hurdles, as they are focused on a welfare-centric approach to journalists. The Commissioner said the police so far had been extending all help to the club and would continue to do so in the coming days.

Mr. Ram urged everyone to join together and run the club in a harmonious manner.

Complimenting the Chennai Press Club on organising welfare activities such as health camp, he also wanted the club to organise a guidance programme involving election officials to clarify the doubts that cropped in the new Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Chennai Press Club president Suresh Vethanayagam and general secretary Haseef Mohammed, representatives of Vooki, which sponsored the raincoats, were present.
