Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy predicted simultaneous elections to the Assembly and the Lok Sabha as the Centre will go for ‘One Nation One Election’, and Telangana’s next elections will be in June 2029.

“Irrespective of what anyone claims, the Congress will come back in June 2029 and will be in power till 2034, and this is the determined mandate of the people,” he said while revealing that all the plans he has for Telangana will be completed by then to turn it into the most prosperous State.

The Chief Minister’s comments came in the backdrop of repeated claims of BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao that the BRS would come back within 500 days if the Congress was defeated in the Jubilee Hills bypoll. He was speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ organised by Press Club Hyderabad on Sunday (November 09).

Highlighting the Congress’s contribution to Hyderabad’s growth, Mr. Revanth Reddy said the city’s transformation into an IT and knowledge hub was the result of Congress-era policies. He credited former Congress leaders, including P. Janardhan Reddy, for securing Krishna drinking water for Hyderabad, and S. Jaipal Reddy for playing a ‘key role’ in developing the Metro Rail project. “Hyderabad now contributes 65% of Telangana’s income and Rangareddy district has the highest per capita income in India,” he pointed out.

Taking credit for huge investments of global companies in Hyderabad in recent times, he said that during the Congress rule, Hyderabad attracted $1 billion in investment from Eli Lilly, American Airlines, and McDonald’s, and 70% of the world’s Fortune 500 companies’ Global Capability Centres (GCCs) were set up here.

The Chief Minister accused the BRS leadership of promoting “pub culture” while the Congress government was promoting a “culture of meeting and serving the people.” “BRS leaders preferred mingling with film celebrities while as a Chief Minister I mingled with film workers.”

Continuing his tirade against BRS working president K T Rama Rao, he said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was seeing the BRS crumbling down in front of his eyes due to “power-hungry KTR.” He also accused KTR of neglecting his own sister Kavitha while making “tall claims about social justice.”

Asserting that the Congress would win the Jubilee Hills byelection, he said the BJP was bound to lose its deposit due to the ‘open understanding between Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and KTR’ as the former was paying his gratitude for all help extended by the latter.
