Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will take part in the Narayana Guru-Mahatma Gandhi conversation’s centenary celebration programme to be held at the campus of Mangalore University in Mangaluru on December 3.
Talking to reporters in Mangaluru on Saturday, MLC B.K. Hariprasad, president of the organising committee of the programme, said the Prime Minister initiated the centenary celebration programme in Shivagiri recently. The Chief Minister will be taking part in the programme to be held on the university premises.
On the occasion, they will also celebrate centenary year of “samadhi” of Narayana Guru and also 100 years of the all community meet held by Narayana Guru. President of Shivagiri Mutt Sathhidananada Swami, Mangaluru Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, AICC general secretary and chairperson of Public Accounts Committee K.C. Venugopal, and several Ministers will take part. The function will be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Mr. Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the building of Mangalore University’s Narayana Guru Study Chair constructed at a cost of over ₹1 crore. He will lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the construction work of the building taken up at a cost of ₹3 crore, Mr. Hariprasad said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah will participate in the function as the Chief Minister, he said, while refusing to comment on change of Chief Minister post November 24. “You can ask about the change with Mr. Venugopal when he is here or AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in Bengaluru,” Mr. Hariprasad said.
