Chinmaya Mission conducts Gita chanting competition for students

A district-level Gita chanting competition was conducted by Chinmaya Mission at Sethupathi Higher Secondary School in Madurai on Sunday.

The competition which has been held consecutively in the city for 26 years witnessed participation of 15,000 students in the preliminary rounds this year. Of them, 757 students got shortlisted for the finals.

The contest was open to students from LKG to XII grade and they were further categorised into six groups – A,B,C,D,E, and F.

In Group A (LKG and UKG) 1,500 participants who completed their recitations were awarded certificates and medals at school level.

For Group B (I and II grades), the semi-finals and finals were conducted on October 25 at Chinmaya Mission, while the competitions for Groups C,D,E, and F (III to XII standard) were held at Sethupathi Higher Secondary School.

The 13 winners and 47 participants received consolation prizes worth ₹1.25 lakh, along with certificates.

All participants were also presented with notebooks, stationery kits and participation certificates.

T. Thilagar, president of Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, briefed the gathering about the competition. Sandip Kumar Sinha, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank Circle Officer, Madurai, presented the prizes.
