Chittoor district administration is on high alert following the forecast of moderate to heavy rainfall due to the impact of cyclone Ditwah over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Addressing an emergency meeting with the officials of various departments here on Sunday (November 30, 2025), Collector Sumit Kumar instructed the Panchayat Raj, Revenue and Police Departments to remain stationed at key centres until the weather system passes.
Mr. Sumit Kumar said that as many as 168 villages across 14 mandals were identified as vulnerable to floods. Officials have been told to take up precautionary measures, alert residents of low-lying areas, and shift them to safer locations, if required. The Collector emphasised coordination among Irrigation, RWS, Electricity, R&B, Agriculture, Panchayat Raj, and Municipal Departments to prevent any loss of life or property.
Irrigation teams are being deployed to monitor major tanks in Palamaner, Peddapanjani, Bangarupalem, Nindra, and Karveti Nagaram, while the Health Department has been directed to maintain 24/7 staffing at primary health centres. About 237 secretariat staff have been positioned at central points for quick response.
With the paddy harvest season under way, farmers have been advised to avoid harvesting until the cyclone’s intensity reduces to prevent crop damage.
Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said that special police teams have been formed under respective DSPs to support emergency operations.
