The impact of Cyclone Ditwah brought intermittent drizzle and light rain across the eastern mandals of Chittoor district and parts of Rajampeta division in Annamayya district on Saturday (November 29) evening. The sky remained overcast till evening before drizzle and light showers began at brief intervals.

The weather report has forecast heavy rain for Nindra, Vijayapuram, Nagari, Karveti Nagaram and Srirangarajapuram mandals, while the remaining areas of Chittoor district are expected to receive moderate rainfall on Sunday.

Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar has placed revenue and police teams on alert to monitor low-lying localities and vulnerable causeways in Nagari division. Irrigation officials have been deployed at the Krishnapuram reservoir near Karveti Nagaram to track rising inflows. Alerts were also sounded for low-lying areas along the Kusasthali river in Nagari and the Neeva river in Chittoor.

In the Madanapalle and Rajampeta divisions of Annamayya district, the inclement weather left horticulture farmers anxious, fearing damage to standing tomato and banana crops. Annamayya District Collector Nishant Kumar on Saturday inspected the control room in Rayachoti, and put the field staff of the agriculture, revenue, police and irrigation departments on alert.
