The Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) conferred the ‘DG’s disc’ on 19 personnel for exceptional operational performance during Operation Sindoor in safeguarding the vital Uri hydropower projects about 10 km from the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The citation said CISF troops “neutralised hostile drones targeting the installations, and secured armoury stockpiles by swiftly redistributing weapons to prevent potential destruction”.
Apart from about 250 civilians, CISF personnel ensured the safety of the Uri-I and Uri-II hydroelectric projects in May 2025.
Retaliating to the May 7 Operation Sindoor by the Indian armed forces, the Pakistan Army launched intense and indiscriminate shelling on Indian territory, endangering vital infrastructure, including the Uri hydropower projects, and threatening nearby civilian populations, the CISF said.
“Positioned barely 8-10 kilometres from the LoC, CISF units at the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) installations found themselves at the forefront of this sudden escalation. As shells struck close to residential complexes, CISF personnel undertook door-to-door evacuation of civilians, including women, children, NHPC staff and their families, ensuring the safe evacuation of around 250 civilians, preventing any loss of life. Even as live rounds landed dangerously close to the premises, the personnel continued to reinforce bunkers, maintain communication lines through POLNET and satellite systems, and provide emergency assistance,” the CISF said.

The personnel “upheld the highest traditions of the Force, displaying rare courage under fire, and unwavering commitment to national security”, Praveer Ranjan, DG, CISF said.
The evacuation was led by Commandant Ravi Yadav, Deputy Commandant Manohar Singh, and Assistant Commandant Subhash Kumar. The other personnel conferred with the DG’s disc are Inspector Deepak Kumar Jha; Sub-Inspectors Anil Kumar and Deepak Kumar; Assistant Sub-Inspectors Rajeev Kumar and Sukhdev Singh; Head Constables Gurjit Singh, Manoj Kumar Sharma, and Ram Lal; and Constables Sushil Vasant Kamble, Razique Ahmad Abdul Rafique, Ravindra Gulab Wankhede, Tridev Chakma, Sohan Lal, Mufeed Ahmad, Mahesh Kumar, and Sandenaboina Raju.
