City hospital launches advanced gastrointestinal and liver institute

SRM Prime Hospital, Ramapuram, on Monday launched the SRM Prime Institute of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases. The new centre aims to provide comprehensive digestive and liver care using next-generation technology and minimally invasive endoscopic procedures, a press release stated.

Tamil film actor R. Parthiban inaugurated the institute in the presence of P. Siva, chief executive officer, Arulprakash, clinical lead and senior consultant, gastroenterology and hepatology, and Tharun J. George, senior consultant, gastroenterology and hepatology.

The release said advanced systems installed in the institute, enable high-definition imaging and precision-guided interventions.

 Dr. Arulprakash said the institute provided complete gastrointestinal and liver care, including endoscopic ultrasound — the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu — for complex pancreatic and biliary conditions. The centre also offers specialised treatments such as small bowel endoscopy, GERD therapy, early gastrointestinal cancer detection, and non-surgical tumour removal using advanced endoscopic techniques, the release stated.
