City hospital launches Centre of Excellence for Parkinson’s disease and DBS

Apollo Hospitals, Greams Lane, has launched a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), offering advanced care for movement disorders through a combination of cutting-edge neurosurgery and personalised treatment. A press release said the centre specialised in next-generation brain-sensing DBS technology, which tailors treatment to each patient, significantly improving mobility, independence, and quality of life. Vijayashankar Paramanandam, Senior Consultant Neurologist, and Arvind Sukumaran, Senior Consultant Functional Neurosurgeon, lead the centre. Ilankumaran Kaliamoorthy, CEO of Apollo Hospitals Chennai Region, also spoke.
