In a bid to inoculate stray dogs against rabies, a city-wide Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) drive was conducted in Mysuru recently.

The ARV drive was taken up by People For Animals (PFA), Mysuru, and Reaching Out To Animals (ROTA) as a public health measure to prevent rabies and make the city safer for both animals and citizens.

A release said the drive was held across 30 locations in the city and 116 community dogs were administered the anti-rabies vaccine. In addition, 15 dogs received treatment on the spot for skin infections and other minor ailments.

Some of the localities covered included Tilak Nagar, Mandi Mohalla, Sayyaji Rao Road, Devaraja Urs Road and its surroundings, Chamarajapuram, Freedom Fighters Park, Siddappa Square, Lakshmipuram, N.R. Mohalla, Bandipalya, J.P. Nagar, Srirampura, Kuvempunagar, Ashokapuram, Vivekanandanagar, Ramakrishnanagar, Dattagalli, and Hinkal.

As part of ongoing post-operative care, booster ARV doses were administered to dogs previously sterilised under the Animal Birth Control programme, the release added.
