The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg has directed that the Clean Andhra Pradesh (CLAP) vehicles must collect garbage daily from every household without fail. Mr. Garg conducted a surprise inspection in Zone-6 covering wards 73, 74, 75, and 76, including Sanath Nagar, Samatha Nagar, Pedagantyada, Gangavaram, B.C. Road, H.B. Colony, and surrounding areas to review the performance of CLAP vehicles and inspect the major drains.
During inspection, the Commissioner observed that most of the CLAP vehicles were stationed mainly on the main roads instead of operating in the colonies, internal roads and streets for door-to-door waste collection. He also noted that the vehicles were not using the microphones for public announcements effectively. He instructed the concerned sanitary inspectors and ward secretariat sanitation secretaries to improve the performance of CLAP vehicles in door-to-door waste collection, warning that strict action would be taken in case of negligence.
While interacting with the ward secretariat staff, the Commissioner inquired about the CLAP vehicles duty timings, the number of trips they make daily, and how many households each vehicle collects waste from. He directed the sanitation secretaries to ensure that every CLAP vehicle carries out door-to-door waste collection without fail.
