A Class X student ended her life at her residence in Habsiguda in the early hours of Tuesday, allegedly distressed over her academic performance and following counselling by her parents the previous night.
The student, identified as 15-year-old Sri Vaishnavi of Street Number 1, Habsiguda, studying in Sri Chaitanya School, lived with her parents and younger sister.
According to Osmania University inspector M. Appala Naidu, Vaishnavi scored low marks in mathematics, after which her parents spoke to her about her studies. “Unable to bear the pressure, she allegedly jumped from the terrace of the four-storey building at around 5 a.m.,” the official said.
The watchman of the building found her body and immediately alerted the family and the police.
A case has been registered based on a complaint from her father, and further investigation is under way.
