Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday appealed to people in Delhi to participate in a three-day congregation to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib at the Red Fort complex.
The CM urged people to attend the event, which began on Sunday, and embrace the guru’s timeless messages of secularism, compassion, tolerance and truth in their daily lives. She said that Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib’s “unparalleled sacrifice for truth and humanity” continues to inspire every citizen to walk the path of courage and compassion.
Earlier in the day, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Ms. Gupta offered prayers at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, the place where Guru Sahib’s mortal remains were cremated, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah later in the day visited the congregation and paid homage, the statement said.
The Delhi government has declared November 25 a public holiday, as a tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib.
