Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the newly constructed skill training centre building at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Konam and a multipurpose community welfare centre in Vattavilai through video conference on Thursday.
Following the formal inauguration by the Chief Minister, Kanniyakumari district Collector R. Alagumeena lit the ceremonial lamp at the event held at the government ITI campus in Konam.
Speaking at the event, she said that the new building for skill training at the government ITI has been constructed at a cost of ₹2.40 crore, on behalf of Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare department, through the Prime Minister’s programme for the welfare of minorities. She noted that the new building on the government ITI campus is equipped with amenities including workshops, classrooms and other necessary facilities.
Ms. Alagumeena further noted that the multipurpose community welfare centre at Vattavilai has been constructed at a cost of ₹1.40 crore under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme, for the benefit of people in the region.
Assistant Collector (training) Rahul Kumar, District Backward Classes officer Senthur Pandian, Principal, government ITI, Konam, Philip Alwin and other officials were present.
