Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will visit Erode on November 26 and 27 to attend several programmes, said Housing and Urban Development Minister S. Muthusamy.

The Minister inaugurated two anganwadi centres, two ration shops, a gymnasium and an additional school building constructed at a cost of ₹90 lakh in Erode city on Saturday.

He told reporters that details of the Chief Minister’s visit were being finalised and would be announced soon. A second mofussil bus terminus is planned near Kani Ravuthar Kulam, but the project has been delayed due to legal issues in acquiring land where 35 families are residing. “The government wants to complete the work without causing inconvenience,” he said.

He said projects in Erode Corporation were progressing well and no councillors had raised complaints. “There is no discontent or internal rift in the DMK in Erode,” he added.

Commenting on political developments, Mr. Muthusamy said BJP leaders were wrong in linking the DMK to AIADMK’s internal matters. “No one is being forced to join the DMK. Those interested are welcome,” he said.

On the ongoing voters’ list revision, he said the DMK was pointing out errors to ensure eligible voters were not left out. “Similar irregularities were reported in Haryana and Bihar. We only want to prevent such issues here,” he said.

A protest will be held on November 11 near the Kalaimadu statue in Erode against irregularities in the voter list. Help centres have been set up to address queries, and booth agents are assisting voters in filling out forms. “It is incorrect to say that we oppose the process, because fake votes cannot be cast. Our intention is to protect voters’ rights,” he said.

Referring to the incident in Karur, the Minister said the Chief Minister had immediately visited the affected area and ensured medical assistance. “He never acts with a sense of revenge, as seen from his remarks in the Assembly,” he said, responding to TVK president Vijay’s comments.
