Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary and urged people to work for the unity of Akhand Bharat (Greater India).
Speaking to the reporters, Ms. Gupta said Sardar Patel was known as the ‘Iron Man of India’ as he tirelessly worked for the unity and integrity of the nation. “Today, on his 150th birth anniversary, events are being held across the country. Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’, and the Delhi government will also organise a two-day event to mark the occasion,” she said.
Reiterating her message of national integration, the Chief Minister said, “We are all part of Akhand Bharat, and we must all work for its unity. This is my message to every citizen.” Ms. Gupta, along with Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, participated in a ‘Run for Unity’ event earlier in the day and paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel’s statue in the city.
