The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) and the Indo American Chamber of Commerce will participate in an exhibition to be held in Atlanta in the U.S. in February next year to showcase engineering products made in India.
V. Sundaram, former president of CODISSIA, said, “We have shared the product codes with the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center. The aim is to have about 30 participants from Coimbatore. Other Associations such as the Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association and the Institute of Indian Foundrymen are likely to join,” he said.
The CODISSIA has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce. The Georgia Chamber and the CODISSIA will organise the Atlanta India Trade Fair 2026 from February 9 to 11 next year.
“The plan is to have totally 100 stalls where the American manufacturers will also display their products. Though the Indian goods exported to the U.S. attract high tariffs now, there is scope for joint ventures, collaborations, and small volume orders. Further, by taking steps and entering into business collaborations now, the Indian MSMEs will have an advantage when the tariffs reduce. We are talking to the American buyers to see how we can navigate the tariff challenges,” he added.
There are several engineering products that are not made in the U.S. and the buyers there can source large volumes from other countries. The MSMEs here have the scope to cater to small volume needs, he said.
