All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged protests in Coimbatore on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) demanding the State government to ensure safety of women in the wake of the gang rape of a college student in the city.

AIADMK’s protest on Huzur Road in the city was headed by former Minister Valarmathi and Coimbatore north MLA Amman K. Arjunan. In another protest held at Sundarapuram, cadre distributed pepper spray to college students, working women and women commuters.

TVK members, in their protest on Huzur Road, condemned the State government for not ensuring women’s safety. Speakers alleged that the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu had deteriorated and crimes against women were on the rise.

AIDWA staged a protest under the leadership of its State committee member S. Rajalakshmi in front of the BSNL office near Coimbatore Collectorate, demanding safety for women and children. Participants condemned the district administration and the police, accusing them of not having adequate concern for women’s safety.
