The police will submit the charge-sheet in Coimbatore gang-rape case before December 4, within a period of one month as instructed by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The Coimbatore City Police Commissioner A. Saravana Sundar is supervising the investigation to ensure that the chargesheet is filed before the Additional Mahila Court before December 4, police sources said.
A police officer privy to the investigation said the investigating team has moved the court seeking the custody of the three accused – T. Karuppasamy alias Satheesh (30), his brother T. Kaleeswaran alias Karthik (21) and their distant relative M. Guna alias Thavasi (20), of Madurai district. The court is expected to hear the plea on Thursday. The three accused are currently in judicial custody in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
It was on the intervening night of November 2 and 3, the three accused allegedly gang-raped a 20-year-old woman on a deserted area behind a college campus near Coimbatore International Airport, after assaulting and injuring her boyfriend aged 25. Mr. Stalin said on November 4 that the police were instructed to file the charge-sheet within a month.
The test identification parade (TIP) of the three accused was held at the Coimbatore Central Prison on November 18 and the survivor and her boyfriend are said to have identified the trio. Results of various forensic examinations in the case are awaited and the police have requested the government laboratories to expedite the results, considering the gravity of the crime.

S. Latha, an Inspector attached to the Investigation Wing at the Singanallur station in Coimbatore, is the investigating officer in the case, assisted by R. Arjunkumar, Station House Officer, Peelamedu station, in whose jurisdiction the crime occurred.
