Coimbatore industries commit investments in aerospace, Defence and semi conductor sectors

Industries in Coimbatore, including Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs), have committed to invest in emerging sectors such as Defence, electric vehicles, aerospace, and semi conductors.

As many as 158 MoUs were exchanged between industries and Tamil Nadu government at the TN Rising meeting held in Coimbatore on Tuesday (November 25, 2025), in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

These are for total investments worth ₹43,844 crores across Tamil Nadu to generate more than one lakh new jobs. Industries based in Coimbatore region – Lakshmi Machine Works, CRI Pumps, Sakthi Aircraft Industry, Propel, Pricol, EIFCO Realities, Yield Engineering Systems, LG Balakrishnan & Bros, Bosch Global Software Technologies, Bull Machines, KPR, Malabar Gems and Jewellery, and Jay Jay Mills have committed almost ₹8,300 crore investment. These are in multiple sectors – composites for rockets, training aircraft, Information Technology, technical textiles, and electric vehicles.

Mindox, Caliber Interconnects, and Zepto Logic Technologies have also committed investments in Coimbatore region.

Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa told the media that the TN Rising event in Coimbatore is different from those held in Hosur and Thoothukudi, as there is substantial investment by home-grown industries. Tamil Nadu is strong in manufacturing and service sectors. Its aspiration is to become the research and development capital of the country. The State has two lakh candidates graduating every year in engineering and STEM courses. The aim is to create jobs for them and encourage development of high precision and high quality products. “We also have to conquer the technical textiles area,” he said.

Tamil Nadu is the most urbanised State and its infrastructure development is widespread. It will develop centres of excellence that will provide hands-on training to candidates in the semi-conductor sector. The next focus for the Industries Department will be to inter-connect various hubs in the State that specialise in different sectors, the Minister added.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation and disbursed government subsidy on Tuesday for Foundries Development Foundation (₹23.85 crore) and Centre of Excellence for Advanced Pumps and Motors (₹14.43 crore), and distributed offer letters to select candidates who secured jobs in the private sector.
