Coir Board urged to encourage production of coir geotextile in Konaseema

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar has appealed to the Coir Board scientists to help farmers establish units to produce geotextile with coconut coir in the Konaseema region. 

Addressing the gathering of scientists and coconut farmers at a regional seminar on the coconut sector on Thursday, Mr. Mahesh Kumar said that the coir geotextile was being used in 5% of roads across the country. It is also useful in strengthening the embankments of canals.
