District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad called for proper coordination between the district and Naval officials on Thursday for the successful conduct of the International Fleet Review (IFR) – 2026 to be held in Visakhapatnam from February 15 to 20.
At a review meeting on the forthcoming IFR-2026, Mr. Harendhira Prasad held discussions with district and Navy officials. The President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Governor, Chief Minister and other VIP s are expected to participate in IFR-2026. A decision was taken on assigning various tasks and duties to different groups.
The Naval officers gave a presentation on IFR-2026, organisation of Milan-2026, visit of VIPs and other issues. Guests from about 100 friendly nations would be participating in the event and transport and accommodation would have to be arranged for them.
The Milan Village programme would be held from February 15 to 20, President Droupadi Murmu would preside over IFR to be held on February 18, the city parade and Milan inaugural would be held on February 19. The ‘harbour phase’ of Milan-2026 would be held on February 19 and 20 and the ‘sea phase’ from February 21 to 25, he explained.
The Collector called upon officials of various departments to complete works pertaining to the event early. He also stressed on the importance of tight security as a large number of VIPs from different nations were expected to participate in the festival. He directed the officials to hasten the pace of works taken up under the aegis of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), GAIL and HPCL, the beautification of streets.
Joint Collector Mayur Ashok, VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bhart, DCP Manikanta Chandolu, officials of the Navy, HPCL, GAIL and BPCL were among those who participated.
