Collector stresses importance of gram sabha meetings on Local Governance Day

Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon on Saturday headed the special gram sabha meeting held at Mahindi panchayat here.

The gram sabha was conducted on the occasion of Local Governance Day.

Mr. Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, In his address, said the objective of the gram sabha meeting was for the public to come together, discuss, and implement the resolutions required for the development of the panchayat.

“Similarly, just like today’s gram sabha meeting, every gram sabha meeting should see the full participation of the public, who should identify the completed works, pass resolutions, and ensure the schemes are implemented. Every scheme prioritised in the gram sabha is a powerful one,” he told them.

Furthermore, the gram sabha meeting would be beneficial for the economic progress of individuals, he noted.

A press statement of the district administration said special attention was given to schemes such as road resurfacing and improvement of drinking water scheme works.

Following the event, Mr. Simranjeet Singh Kahlon distributed government welfare assistance to 10 beneficiaries through the Agriculture Department.
