District Collector M.N. Harendira Prasad warned medical officials concerned of strict action if any maternal deaths occur in the district. He said that it is the responsibility of the Medical and Health Department officials to ensure that no maternal deaths occur during childbirth and warned that negligence in such cases will not be tolerated.
The Collector conducted a review meeting on maternal death surveillance with the District Medical and Health Department and other officials concerned at the Collectorate on Friday (November 29, 2025). While one was under Kanithi Primary Health Centre (PHC), the second one was under Nakkavanipalem Urban Health Centre (UHC). Warning of strict action if such incidents occur in the future, the Collector directed that high-risk pregnant women should be given immediate medical attention without delay.
