Taxis, cabs and other commercial vehicles operating in and around Rajiv Gandhi International Airport premises were checked by teams from Telangana Transport Department, airport security and others on Friday.
Operators of vehicles with fake private number plates, damaged or faded plates, or any regulatory violations were cautioned and directed to rectify the issues.
Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Sai Krishnaveni, Shamshabad Zone, who led the checks, said that surprise inspections would be intensified. Hefty fines would be imposed on violators, and vehicles which are not in compliance with rules would be seized.
Meanwhile, the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limitedās (GHIAL) has requested the Road Transport Department, traffic police, and other enforcement agencies to carry out surprise inspections on all vehicles operating in and around the airport premises.
