
The commissioning of EVMs for the local body elections took place at Malabar Christian College in Kozhikode city on Friday.

The process of commissioning electronic voting machines (EVMs) for the three-tier local body elections began in Kozhikode district on Friday (December 5, 2025).
The commissioning began in the blocks of Perambra, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Melady, Chelanur, and Koduvally, as well as in the municipalities of Koyilandy and Ramanattukara. District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh, who also serves as the District Election Officer, inspected the voting machine commissioning process at Perambra Higher Secondary School, the reception and distribution centre for the Perambra block.
He reviewed the setting up of ballot papers in the EVMs, which is being carried out under the supervision of returning officers. Election Deputy Collector Gopika Udayan was present. The commissioning and distribution of EVMs for the Kozhikode Corporation will take place at the Nadakkavu School on Saturday.
Machine commissioning will also be held in the blocks of Thuneri, Kunnummal, Balusseri, Panthalayani, Kunnamangalam, and Thodannur, and in the municipalities of Vadakara, Payyoli, Koduvally, Feroke, and Mukkom.
The Deputy Collector said the commissioning process across the district would be completed by December 7. Voting machines will be distributed to polling officials on December 10, the day before polling, and will be stored in strong rooms at the distribution centres until then.
