Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday charged that the Congress government has been a ‘total flop’, failing to deliver on its promises and commitments to the people, while corruption continues to rise.
Speaking to the media at the party’s State office, Mr. Rao strongly condemned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks that the BJP would be ‘uprooted’ if the Centre does not allocate funds for ‘Future City’.
“It is the Revanth Reddy government that people are going to uproot, as it has become a failed administration in every aspect, just like the BRS government,” he said.
Accusing the ruling party of being ‘gripped by fear’ of the BJP, Mr. Rao alleged that the Congress has been spreading false propaganda for the past two years. “Has the Congress government even considered why and how the Centre should provide funds for Future City? City planning falls entirely under the jurisdiction of the State government. The Congress policy is simply to cry before the Centre,” he remarked.
He asserted that the Centre has never withheld funds for schemes such as AMRUT, Smart City, Swachh Bharat and others. Mr. Rao also questioned the delay in providing fee reimbursement to students, pensions to retired employees, clearing Aarogyasri dues, and fulfilling other commitments. “Mr. Revanth Reddy must first answer these questions instead of attacking the BJP and the Central government. The Congress is a factory of lies, and no one should believe it,” he said.
Offers to resign
In a separate press conference at Nirmal, BJP legislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy continued his attack on the government over the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), which allows conversion of 9,292 acres of land in 22 industrial zones into multi-use zones. He offered to resign from his MLA post if he fails to prove loopholes in the policy.
Countering Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Mr. Reddy sought details on landholding patterns, current pollution levels and the status of the lands mentioned. He questioned about the incentives for industries to relocate outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and raised concerns about job losses if industries are shut down.
