All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Shakir Sanadi, former Youth Congress leader and secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, met office-bearers of the Tiruchi South District Congress Committee at the Arunachalam Mandram party office here on Wednesday.

After the interaction with district functionaries, he addressed media persons and said that he was meeting party office-bearers across the State as part of the first phase of organisational review. He added that he had come to oversee the process of selecting the Tiruchi South District Congress Committee president.

Stating that responsibilities in the party would be allotted to members of all communities without discrimination, Mr. Sanadi said efforts would be taken to strengthen the party structure at all levels.

Responding to questions on the Congress’s defeat in the Bihar elections, he alleged that the BJP-led alliance had won through “vote theft.”

When asked about the Congress’s stake in government formation in Tamil Nadu as part of the alliance, he said he was here only in the capacity of an organisational observer, and that decisions on governance and alliance matters were for the party high command to take.

AICC member Karthik Thangabalu, Tiruchi South District Congress president Advocate Govindarajan, AICC general secretary Vissu alias Lenin Prasad, former Kallikudi panchayat president Sundaram, former Youth Congress Parliamentary president Allur Suresh, and several party functionaries were present.
