The United Democratic Front (UDF) completed its seat-sharing discussions for the district panchayat elections. The Congress will contest in 25 of the 31 divisions and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will contest in six. The IUML has got one extra division, Parali, this time.
A UDF core committee meeting will be held on November 15 to finalise the candidate selection, said UDF district chairman Marakkar Marayamangalam and convener P. Balagopal.
The divisions where the Congress candidates will be fielded are Sreekrishnapuram, Kadambazhipuram, Kanhirapuzha, Attappady, Kongadu, Puthuppariyaram, Malampuzha, Puthussery, Kozhikppara, Meenakshipuram, Polpully, Koduvayur, Kollengode, Nenmara, Pallassana, Kizhakkanchery, Tharur, Alathur, Kuzhalmannam, Kottayi. Vaniyamkulam, Thrithala, Kappur, Thiruvegappura and Vilayoor.
The IUML will contest in Thenkara, Alanallur, Ambalappara, Muthuthala, Chalavara and Parali.
