Congress to revamp district committees to strengthen party: Observer

Congress party is in the process of revamping the party district organisational structure by infusing functional, committed and young leadership to strengthen the all-India party, said its observer Biswaranjan Mohanty.

Talking to reporters here on the sidelines of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (Structural Reformation Mission), Mr. Mohanty said that as per the AICC decision, efforts were being made in a more transparent way to bring people who are committed to the party ideology, democracy and Constitution of India to the district congress committee leadership.

Mr. Mohanty, who is the observer for the process, said that he would be visiting each of the seven Assembly constituencies in Virudhunagar district and meet the party cadre and members of civil society.

Any person interested to become part of DCC can get the application form, he said. Mr. Mohanty said that the party would give priority to youths, people from marginalised society, oppressed class, women to head the party.

Besides, the AICC has decided to give more power to the DCC.
