A 25-year-old construction worker has been arrested for hurling a crude petrol bomb inside an apartment complex in Guindy in the early hours of Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as R. Vijaya Prabhakaran, a false-ceiling worker from Guindy. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he walked towards the apartment around 4:30 a.m. He hurled the explosive material into the premises and fled.
The bottle landed on a parked car belonging to Ram Nitish, an engineer from Madurai. Upon impact, the car’s right rear-view mirror caught fire, which spread across the right side of the vehicle. The fire completely burned the right wheel. Security guards and residents managed to extinguish the flames before they spread further.
Following a complaint from Ram Nitish, Guindy Police launched an investigation and arrested Vijaya Prabhakaran.
