Copious rain improves storage in Coimbatore reservoirs

Intermittent showers have helped in improving storage in many of the major reservoirs in Coimbatore district.

Water level in Sholayar reservoir stood at 156.56 ft as against the full level of 160 ft on Monday, with the storage being 4.8 tmcft against the full reservoir level of 5.06 tmcft, Aliyar reservoir as against FRL of 120 ft had 118.5 ft of water, the storage being 3.75 tmcft as against the FRL of 3.86 tmcft and Pilloor reservoir had 88 ft of water as against the FRL of 100 ft.

Siruvani reservoir had 38.70 ft of water as against the FRL of 45 ft. Rain continues in majority of the locations. The district received 193.50 mm of rainfall in all the 23 rain gauge stations, thus registering an average rainfall of 8.41 mm.
