Bharatiya Janata Party State president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday said that the countdown for the ruling DMK government and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has begun.

Time has come for the people to decide whether the ruling DMK government should continue, Mr. Nainar Nagenthran said speaking at a meeting organised at Aranthangi in the district by the BJP as part of his State-wide campaign ‘Tamizhagam Thalai Nimara Tamizhanin Payanam’.

Terming the performance of the DMK government as ‘worst’ in the last four-and-half years, he claimed that Chief Minister M. K. Stalin only wished to make his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin as the Chief Minister. The DMK members would meet the people only when elections were round the corner else they would not meet them, he claimed.

Stating that the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu had gone out of control, Mr. Nainar Nagenthran cited the deaths of 41 persons in a stampede during the rally of Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay at Karur; the multiple deaths of persons after consuming spurious liquor at Kallakurichi and circulation of narcotic substances across the State. He also cited the murder of a person inside the police quarters at Tiruchi city on Monday and the recent gang rape of a college girl student at Coimbatore.

Terming the AIADMK-BJP relationship as a natural alliance, he claimed that the two parties worked for the welfare of the people at the national and State levels. It was only during the AIADMK regime that the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its clearance for establishing 11 government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, he pointed out. He said the DMK government had put on cold storage the multi-crore Cauvery – Gundar interlinking project which was brought in by the AIADMK government.
