A couple from Kosukurichi-Kumbasalai, Raja, 50, and Pesali, 45, who were walking on the road, were fatally knocked down by a speeding car on Natham —Thurvarankurichi highway in Dindigul district in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police have arrested the car driver, Madasamy of Madurai. The police said after overnight stay at a relative’s house, the couple were walking on the highway.
The car driver lost control of the vehicle after dozing off, and hit the couple, killing them on the spot, at around 4 a.m.
Natham police have registered a case.
