The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to take immediate action against the large-scale illegal occupation of assigned lands belonging to tribal families in the Rayalacheruvu–Gandipeta region of Tirupati district.
In a letter to the Chief Minister on Sunday, CPI(M) State Secretary B. Srinivasa Rao alleged that influential groups have encroached upon about 700 acres of land allotted to tribal people and are carrying out illegal constructions with the support of certain officials. The land, originally distributed for cultivation and housing, has been forcibly taken over by powerful individuals, depriving the rightful owners of their livelihood.
He further claimed that similar irregularities have been found in nearly 2,000 acres of adjacent forest land, where violations of land and environmental regulations have gone unchecked.
Accusing local revenue officials of negligence and collusion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the government must order an immediate inquiry, cancel all fraudulent registrations, and restore the land to the affected families. He urged the Chief Minister to ensure justice for the tribal communities by taking stern action against those responsible, protecting their rights, and preventing further exploitation.
