A crocodile that was found in a channel at Pettavaithalai near Tiruchi was captured and safely released into the Kollidam river at Vathalai on Wednesday.
Acting on information from locals, a team of Forest officials went to the spot in the morning and captured the reptile. The male crocodile measuring nearly seven feet in length and weighing about 50 kg to 60 kg was captured by the team in an operation that lasted around one-and-half hours.
The adult crocodile was transported in a vehicle and safely released into the Kollidam river at Vathalai, said a Forest official.
