The Karnataka Department of Horticulture on Thursday inaugurated the flower show at Cubbon Park, introducing a floral display modelled on the popular annual Lalbagh Flower Show.
A total of 33,500 people visited the flower show on its opening day, including 15,000 adults and 18,500 children. The department generated ₹2.24 lakh and expects overall footfall to cross two lakh over the course of the event. The entry for adults till inauguration was free, while entry for children was free throughout the day.
The show features 50 major floral displays, including tigers, leopards, elephants, butterflies, dolphins, fruit sculptures, and a flower-adorned Hampi chariot. More than 35,000 potted flowering plants, along with exotic species sourced from Indo American Hybrid Seeds and private nurseries across Bengaluru, have been arranged across the venue.
Visitors can witness Ikebana sessions, bonsai displays, vegetable and fruit carving, Thai art, Janapada art, fancy dress competitions, rangoli contests, drawing activities for children, and an art exhibition. Painting competitions and military weapons and equipment displays have also been added to the programme while daily performances by the police and military bands are scheduled at the Bandstand.
