For a cause centred on women’s safety and cyber awareness, cyclist G.D. Vishnuraam completed a 500-km ride from Dhanushkodi to Coimbatore on Sunday (December 7, 2025).
The ride was flagged off by G. Chandheesh, Superintendent of Police, Ramanathapuram district, at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday (December 6, 2025) and concluded on Sunday morning, with Mr. Vishnuraam covering the distance in 15 hours and 8 minutes. Messages on violence against women, cybercrime prevention and drug abuse prevention were carried through the ride.
The route covered Rameswaram, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Ottanchathiram, Palladam and Coimbatore. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner A. Saravana Sundar, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan, and Deputy Commissioners N. Devanathan (North) and M.P. Dhivya (Headquarters) rode with Vishnuraam on the final stretch from Coimbatore Airport to the office of the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner.
A pledge on women’s safety and cyber awareness was administered at the end of the ride. Officials encouraged the use of safety tools made available by the police, including the Kaaval Uthavi App, the helplines for women and children, and the recently introduced Pink Patrol system. They also urged the public to stay alert while using digital platforms, avoid clicking unknown links, verify the source of messages received through mobile devices and social media, and take steps to protect personal information from online fraud and misuse.
