In view of the heavy rain forecast for several districts, several districts in Tamil Nadu have announced school holiday on Friday (November 28, 2025).

Ramanathapuram District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon declared a holiday for schools in Rameswaram block due to rain.

Tiruvarur Collector V. Mohanachandran declared a holiday for schools to close with forenoon session today in Tiruvarur district in view of heavy rainfall warning.

A half day leave has been declared for schools and colleges in Tiruvarur and Mayiladuthurai districts today. Schools and colleges to close with forenoon session in view of heavy rainfall warning. Class room sessions of educational establishments in Tiruvarur district were suspended on Friday afternoon after the District Administration declared a holiday for schools and colleges on November 28 afternoon. Due to the heavy rain alert, all schools and colleges in Mayiladuthurai district have been declared a holiday this afternoon, following an order issued by District Collector H.S. Srikanth.

A half day leave has been declared for schools and colleges in Pudukottai district too in view of heavy rainfall warning.

Cyclone Ditwah, now positioned over coastal Sri Lanka and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, is set to bring intense rainfall over the delta and adjoining districts on Friday, before shifting towards north Tamil Nadu by weekend. 

A yellow alert has been sounded for five south coastal and delta districts, including Ramanathapuram and Thanjavur. With the weather system expected to intensify further, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has given orange and yellow alerts for delta and adjoining districts such as Ariyalur and Cuddalore on Friday (November 28, 2025).
