Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached Puducherry to assist the administration in dealing with any eventuality arising out of Cyclone Ditwah reaching Union Territory’s coastline.

District Collector A. Kulothungan told journalists on Friday (November 28, 2025), the teams are stationed in Puducherry to help the civil administration in case of heavy rain or cyclone making landfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall for the region and hence the administration has taken precautionary measures, he said.

“We are in regular touch with the IMD to get updates about the trajectory of the cyclone. The administration has taken all measures to deal with the situation. Fishermen have already been issued warning not to venture into sea. The Public Administration and Municipalities have taken measures to drain out water in case of flooding low-lying areas, he said.
