Officials from the Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Visakhapatnam, have seized the unlicensed premises of M/s Suham Clinic and Diagnostic Centre at Venkojipalem, MVP Colony on Thursday.
The action followed a grievance received through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS), Visakhapatnam, alleging that SUHAM Pharmacies is operating across Andhra Pradesh without drug licenses under. The outlets function under the trust names including Shantinagar Kalanjiya SUHAM Trust, Shantinagar Kalanjiya Samakya Trust, Shantinagar Kalanjiya Paraspara Samakya Trust, and Shantinagar Kalanjiya Jeevitha Samakya Trust — all functioning under the DHAN Foundation, headquartered at Madurai in Tamil Nadu, said Savarapu Vijaya Kumar, Assistant Director, DCA, Visakhapatnam district.
Drugs Inspector, V. Abhipriya conducted the raid and seizure at the unlicensed premises of M/s. SUHAM Clinic and Diagnostic Centre. On inspection, 55 varieties of saleable drugs valued at approximately ₹80,000 were seized for violations of Section 18 (c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and further inspections are being conducted.
Based on the above findings, the Drugs Inspector seized the stock under Form-16 as per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act & Rules, and samples of the suspected drugs have been lifted for analysis under Form-17 and sent for analysis by government analyst. The seizure of drugs has been reported to the IV ACMM Court, Visakhapatnam.
Further investigations are under way and strict action will be initiated against the person responsible, as per the legal provisions, Mr. Vijaya Kumar added.
