Over 1,000 bookings were made within 24 hours for the second phase of Jan Sadharan Awaas Yojana, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA)’s housing scheme, an official said on Saturday. All units in Rohini, Ramgarh Colony, and Shivaji Marg were sold out, the official added.

Buoyed by the success of the scheme’s first phase in September, which saw 1,200 flats being booked on the day of the launch, the urban body had unveiled the second phase on Friday. Around 1,500 flats were on offer for the LIG and EWS categories.

Lieutenant-Governor and DDA Chairperson V.K. Saxena expressed “satisfaction” with the response and lavished praise on the urban body for maintaining “transparency and efficiency” in the booking process, as per a statement from Raj Niwas.

It added that the initiative “reflects DDA’s continued commitment to ensuring housing for all through accessible, transparent, and sustainable urban development”.
